Airbnb Turnover Cleaning Checklist

A turnover clean has a fixed deadline: the next guest's check-in. A clear checklist helps cleaners work quickly without missing the details guests notice and mention in reviews, like hair in the shower or an empty toilet roll holder.

The template works for Airbnb, other booking platforms and direct bookings. Add the host's restocking list and any property-specific instructions. taskhando isn't affiliated with Airbnb.

Kitchen

  • Wash, dry and put away the dishes
  • Clean and sanitise the counters, sink and table
  • Clean the outside of the appliances and inside the microwave
  • Empty the fridge of anything the guest left, and wipe the shelves
  • Empty the waste and recycling bins
  • Restock dish soap, sponges, paper towels and the host's welcome supplies

Bathrooms

  • Clean and disinfect the toilet, shower, bath and sink
  • Remove hair from drains, the floor and surfaces
  • Clean the mirrors and wipe the taps and handles
  • Restock toilet paper, soap and toiletries from the host's list
  • Hang fresh towels

Bedrooms and living areas

  • Make the beds with fresh linen
  • Check pillows, duvets and mattress protectors for stains
  • Check under the beds and in drawers and wardrobes
  • Dust surfaces and wipe remotes, light switches and door handles
  • Vacuum and mop the floors
  • Put furniture back the way it looks in the listing photos

Final checks

  • Check that every light works and replace any blown bulbs from the spares
  • Check that smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are in place and haven't been covered or removed
  • Check that the welcome information, Wi-Fi details and keys are in place
  • Close the windows and set the heating or air conditioning as the host instructs
  • Lock up and let the host know about low supplies or anything that needs attention

Tips for using this checklist

Work top to bottom

Dust and wipe high surfaces before you clean the floors, so nothing falls onto a floor you've already cleaned.

Keep a restocking list per property

Each property has its own amenities. A list of exactly what the host provides avoids both empty shelves and overstocking.

Keep the host in the loop

Let the host know during the clean about anything that needs fixing or replacing, so it's sorted before the next guest arrives.
